
Karwar Diocese Concludes Regional Youth Cross Pilgrimage with Solemn Ceremony

Karwar, September 24, 2025 – The Karnataka Regional Youth Cross pilgrimage in the Karwar Diocese culminated in a heartfelt ceremony on Sunday, September 21, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Kajubag, Karwar. The event united youth, clergy, religious, and lay faithful in a powerful display of prayer and devotion, marking the end of the Cross’s journey across all parishes in the diocese.
The evening began at St. Joseph’s College & School Ground, where youth representatives from Baad Parish handed over the Regional Youth Cross to their counterparts from the Cathedral parish. A prayerful procession, led by Fr. Thomas Fernandes, Rector of the Cathedral, alongside Fr. Wilson D’Souza, Kajubag Deanery Youth Coordinator, and Fr. Stany Pinto, followed, with parishioners reciting prayers and singing hymns en route to the Cathedral.
Inside the Cathedral, the youth led special prayers before the Cross, followed by a reflection from Fr. Stany Pinto, who encouraged young faithful to draw strength, faith, and hope from the Cross. The evening’s centerpiece was a Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Fernandes and concelebrated by Fr. Pinto and Fr. D’Souza. In his homily, Fr. Fernandes emphasized the Cross’s profound significance in the lives of young people. The Mass concluded with a Veneration of the Cross, where attendees expressed deep reverence.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from ICYM Kajubag Deanery youth, DEXCO members, priests, nuns, and lay faithful, whose collective spirit enriched the celebration.
In his closing remarks, Diocesan Youth President Roystan Dias expressed gratitude to all parishes, priests, religious, and youth for their contributions to the successful pilgrimage of the Regional Youth Cross across the Karwar Diocese
