Student Drowns at Kanuru Waterfalls; Body recovered

Yellapur: The body of a student who slipped and fell into the Kanuru Waterfalls near Vajralli in Yellapur taluk was recovered on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Suhail Sayyad Sheikh (21), a resident of Srinagar, Dharwad, and a student of an engineering college in Haliyal. He had gone to the waterfalls with his friends on Tuesday when he accidentally slipped into the water and went missing.

Fire and emergency services personnel along with police launched a search operation soon after the incident. However, the operation had to be suspended late Tuesday night due to darkness. When the search resumed on Wednesday morning, Suhail’s body was found at the same spot where he had fallen.

The body was later shifted to the taluk government hospital for post-mortem examination.
