Man Jumps in Front of Train; Commits Suicide in Honnavar

Honnavar, September 29, 2025 – A tragic incident occurred near Haladipura Kalkatte in Honnavar taluk, Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka  where a 42-year-old man took his own life by jumping in front of a moving train on Monday morning.

The deceased, identified as Hanumanth Thimmu Gouda, a resident of Salikeri, Haladipura, had been battling mental health issues following the death of his wife five years ago. Despite receiving treatment at St. Ignatius Hospital in Honnavar, he had not shown signs of recovery. According to reports, Hanumanth jumped in front of a goods train traveling from Mangalore to Madgaon. The incident has left the local community in shock.

The deceased’s brother, Madeva Thimmu Gouda, filed a complaint at the Honnavar police station. The police have registered a case and have begun an investigation to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.
