
Bike Rally Organized by Uttara Kannada Police to Create Helmet Awareness

Karwar: To raise awareness about the mandatory use of helmets by two-wheeler riders, a bike rally was organized in the city under the leadership of District Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N., with police personnel participating.
The bike rally, which started from the District Police Ground in Karwar, traversed the city’s main roads to spread awareness. In Uttara Kannada district, in 2024, 33 accidents occurred due to riders not wearing helmets, resulting in 18 deaths. In 2025, 64 such cases were recorded, with 35 fatalities. Since 2023, 745 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding have been registered, leading to the cancellation of 467 driving licenses.
District Superintendent of Police Deepan M.N. stated, “The number of deaths due to not wearing helmets and cases of driving under the influence or at excessive speeds is increasing year by year. This awareness rally has been organized in response to this trend. In the coming days, similar awareness rallies will be conducted in all taluks.”
