Farmers Outraged as Sugar Factory Fails to Clear Dues Despite MLA’s Intervention

From the News Observer Desk,
Haliyal: Despite the decision taken at a meeting chaired by senior legislator R.V. Deshpande on August 30, the management of the local sugar factory has failed to hold discussions with farmers or release their pending dues. The continued delay, seen as disregard for the legislator’s directive, has drawn sharp criticism from farmer leaders.
Addressing a press conference organized by the State Sugarcane Growers’ Association at Maratha Bhavan today, leaders expressed their anger over the issue. They condemned both the taluk and district administrations for failing to grasp the seriousness of the situation and accused them of adopting a dismissive attitude.
Farmer representatives demanded that the Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Kannada convene a meeting with factory representatives empowered to take decisions. They warned that if delays persist, the administration would bear full responsibility for any large-scale protests that may follow.
