Fish Frenzy at Devbag Beach: Locals Celebrate Unusual Bounty

By The News Observer Desk,
Karwar: A week after the fish frenzy on Harwarda beach in Ankola a similar and extraordinary sight unfolded at Devbag beach in Karwar taluk, Uttara Kannada district, this morning, as waves washed ashore heaps of fish, sparking excitement among local residents.
The unusual phenomenon, caused by strong sea waves, left countless fish strewn across the shore. Early in the morning, villagers noticed the spectacle and rushed to the beach with nets, baskets, cloth, ropes, and even bare hands to collect the unexpected bounty. Some gleefully scooped up fish by hand, returning home with joy.
The beach buzzed with a festive atmosphere as children joined in, playing among the piles of fish and adding to the cheerful chaos. Within hours, the shore was nearly cleared as locals gathered armfuls of fish. While some kept their haul for home use, others prepared to sell their share in the market.
A similar event occurred a few days ago in Harawada Gabitawada, Ankola taluk, where villagers also collected fish brought ashore by waves, expressing delight at the rare occurrence.
