Illegal Sale of Government Land Alleged in Kumt
Kumta, October 6, 2025: In a serious allegation, Nadumaskeri Gram Panchayat President Ishwar Gowda has accused certain individuals of illegally selling government land within the panchayat’s jurisdiction.

Speaking at a press conference held at the city’s press club on Monday, Gowda stated, “Some individuals in the village are selling government land to outsiders from other states. Despite submitting five appeals to the district administration, no action has been taken. Only a superficial survey has been conducted as a formality,” he alleged.

Gowda further claimed that a nexus of officials and politicians is behind these illegal activities. “Despite a Supreme Court order, unauthorized structures on the land have not been cleared. We have submitted appeals to the Assistant Commissioner and Tahsildar, but the authorities seem to have no concern for government land. There is gomala (pasture) land in the area, yet some people have fenced it off and are intimidating farmers and fishermen. If no action is taken within the next three months, we will file a case in the High Court,” he warned.
Gram Panchayat Vice-President Vijaya K. Naik, along with Ravi, Chandrashekhar Naik, Dayanand Mehta, Nagaraj Tandel, Rajesh Naik, Girija Gowda, Madevi Gowda, Meenakshi Ager, Savita Naik, Raghavendra Gowda, and others were present at the press conference.
