“It is a pride to see our daughters working in an international export company”

Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai said that seeing thousands of women from Haveri district working in an international textile export factory has filled his heart with joy.
He was speaking to the media after inaugurating the newly established Texon World Private Limited garment factory at Khurshapur village in Shiggaon taluk, Haveri district.
Bommai said, the company has been inaugurated in the premises of Shiggaon Textile Park. This was a dream he had about five years ago. With detailed planning and preparation, this project was built at a cost of about ₹50 crores during the BJP government. He succeeded in bringing an export company here as the anchor industry. Texon is among the highest exporting companies in the country. The garments manufactured here will be exported to the USA, England, and other Western countries.
The MP said Texon has installed state-of-the-art machinery and given training to our young women. For that, he expressed his gratitude to the company. Already about 15,000 women are employed here, and another 500 are undergoing training. ” I am extremely happy. To see thousands of women from here working in an international company fills my heart with pride. Back in 2010, I had tried to bring a textile factory here, and today I am glad to see that vision succeed. This Textile Park still has scope for another 7–8 factories. If the state government takes the initiative, nearly 25,000 women from the district will get employment. This will improve the economic conditions of mothers. Development should not be politicized. When a final requirement of ₹6 crore arose, the proposal went to the Minister for Textiles, who forwarded it to the Chief Minister. I personally spoke to the CM, and he immediately sanctioned the funds. I thank him for this. When more factories come, I will be even happier. For this backward region, this is indeed a positive development.”
An emotional Bommai
Speaking earlier at the function, he said it t was not easy to bring this export company to Shiggaon. Initially, there were objections saying there were no proper basic facilities to set up a factory here. When he was Chief Minister, he personally took the initiative to provide the required infrastructure. Now, seeing local women getting employment here makes me very happy.
Bommai said he knew the condition of the women here. Many are using their earnings for medicines and for their children’s education. That gives him immense satisfaction. Consider this as their company and work with honesty. That way, both the company and they will benefit. The company is currently facing challenges, but they are running it to safeguard workers’ jobs. Therefore, work sincerely so that it will be good for everyone.
