Karnataka government revises school timings for statewide social and educational survey

Karwar: The Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes initiated a comprehensive survey to assess the social and educational status of citizens across the state.
To facilitate this digital survey, the govt revised school timings for govt and aided schools, effective from October 8-2025. The survey, which leveraged the publicly available electoral voter list, began on September 22-2025 in regions outside the Greater Bengaluru area, and on October 4-2025 within Greater Bengaluru. R
Recognizing the need for additional time to complete the survey, a meeting chaired by the school education and literacy minister on September 26-2025 decided to adjust school schedules post-vacation. In Greater Bengaluru, school classes will run from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM from October 8-2025 to October 24-2025, with teachers assigned to survey duties in the afternoon.
Outside Greater Bengaluru, the adjusted timings will apply from October 8-2025 to October 12-2025, with survey work continuing during vacation days, aiming for completion by October 12-2025.
This measure ensures that students’ academic progress is not disrupted while supporting the survey’s objectives. Authorities have directed all schools to adhere to these guidelines and any future govt instructions.
