
Konkan Railway Users Consultative Committee Meeting

Goa: The Konkan Railway Users Consultative Committee (KRUCC) meeting was successfully held in Madgaon, Goa. The meeting was chaired by Shri Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, MP from Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency. The meeting had a thorough discussion on the major railway related issues and demands of the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.
Important Decisions and Announcements:
* SMVB-Murudeshwar Express Train Extension: It was unanimously decided in the meeting to submit a re-proposal to the Railway Board to extend train number 16585/86 (SMVB-Murudeshwar Express) up to Vasco, Goa. This will further facilitate the passengers.
* Karwar-Madgaon MEMU Train Extension: A final decision has been taken to extend the MEMU train running between Karwar-Madgaon up to Pernum, Goa. The meeting was informed that this extension will be implemented soon. This measure will be very useful for the passengers and students of the coastal region.
* Additional coaches for Panchganga Express: The meeting was directed to submit a proposal to the Railway Board to add 3 additional coaches to the existing 19 coaches of the Panchganga Express in train number 16595/96 (Karwar-Bengaluru).
This decision will increase the capacity of this important route in line with the increase in passenger numbers.
New Mobile App Launched:
During the meeting, MP Shri Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri launched a new mobile app ‘K R miror’ that will help in getting information related to Konkan Railway easily. Through this app, passengers can get information about the status of trains, timetables and other services.
Other issues related to railways in Uttara Kannada district were also discussed in the meeting. A total of eight Lok Sabha members including Konkan Railway CMD Shri Santosh Kumar Jha participated in the meeting. The decisions of this meeting will play a significant role in increasing the convenience of passengers on the Konkan Railway route. It was suggested to provide platforms, shelters and other facilities for the convenience of passengers at the railway station in Uttara Kannada district.
