By The News Observer Desk,

Mundgod (Uttara Kannada):  A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus traveling from Bankapur in Haveri district to Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka veered off the road near Sanavalli Dam on Wednesday after its steering mechanism failed, causing the vehicle to enter a forested area.

The bus, carrying approximately 30 to 45 passengers at the time of the incident, avoided a major tragedy due to the driver’s composure and swift response. Despite losing control, the driver managed to stabilize the situation, ensuring all passengers escaped unharmed.

Passengers praised the driver’s bravery and quick thinking, crediting his actions for averting potential injuries or fatalities.

Local residents, however, expressed frustration over the incident, highlighting the poor condition of roads in the region. “The state’s roads are in a deplorable state, and KSRTC buses are operating like dilapidated vehicles,” one resident remarked. The public has urged the government to take immediate action to improve road infrastructure to prevent such incidents in the future.
