During the vote counting process, JDS candidate Suraj Naik had alleged irregularities. Election officials re-examined the specified ballot boxes and found no discrepancies. After nearly one and three-quarters years of hearing arguments from both sides and thoroughly reviewing the case, the court delivered its verdict on Thursday.

Shetty remarked that the JDS candidate had repeatedly claimed during events that he should have won and expected a favorable court ruling. However, the court’s verdict has now upheld Shetty’s victory. He described it as a triumph of the people’s blessings and affirmed his commitment to serving the constituency and working honestly for its development. He further stated that he would continue to earn the trust and love of the people and extended his congratulations to all.
