Tension prevailed in Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka State as members of the Sri Rama Sene, led by chief Pramod Muthalik, staged a protest at Shivaji Circle demanding strict action in connection with the alleged Love Jihad case involving Mukalappa, a Kannada Youtuber.
Addressing the protesters, Muthalik alleged that “Mukkalappa has trapped a Hindu girl in the name of Love but it was Love Jihad. A fake marriage has been registered using forged documents at the registration office. This is an illegal act and such incidents cannot be tolerated. It the time to protect our Hindu sisters from such Jihadis” he said.
Sri Rama Sene activists raised slogans demanding stringent legal measures against religious conversions and marriages conducted through false documentation.
Expressing concern, Muthalik further said, “Love Jihad cases are on the rise day by day, creating fear and distress among people. The government and the police department must take this issue seriously and act decisively.”
It can be recalled that Mukalappa a Kannada Youtuber whose real name is Allah Baksh got married to a Hindu girl Gayatri at Mundgod though neither of them was residents of the town. Parents of the girl had objected to the marriage by alleging that it was a case of Love Jihad but Gayatri in a video released by her had denied this and stated that he married Allah Baksh by her will. A case has been registered against Mukalappa and the officials of Mundgod sub-registrar office for using fake documents to register the marriage.
