Rare Sight: Leopard Cub Spotted on Roadside in Sirsi Taluk

Sirsi, October 5, 2025:  An extraordinary sight unfolded on Sunday morning near Goudalli  village  in Sirsi  Taluk of Uttara Kannada district in Karnataka, captivating locals and sparking curiosity. A leopard cub, typically seen only in the wild, was spotted standing by the roadside, drawing significant attention from passersby.

Motorists and pedestrians stopped in their tracks, mesmerized by the rare encounter. Many captured the moment on their mobile phones, taking photos and videos to preserve the memory. Some even attempted to reach out affectionately toward the cub, which initially caused a sense of apprehension among onlookers. However, the cub’s endearing appearance soon brought smiles and delight to those present.

Upon receiving news of the incident, a team from the forest department, led by Deputy Conservator of Forests Sandeep Suryavanshi and guided by Range Forest Officer Girish Naik, swiftly arrived at the scene. The officials successfully rescued the leopard cub and ensured its safe reunion with its mother before releasing them back into the forest. The operation was carried out seamlessly, ensuring the safety of both the cub and the public.
