Rescue of a Cobra Trapped in a Net: Joint Effort by Locals and HESCOM Staff

Ankola:  A cobra that was entangled in a fishing net near the Harwada beach  in the taluk was safely rescued through a joint operation by local residents and HESCOM (Hubli Electricity Supply Company) staff.

According to locals, when they noticed the cobra struggling for its life after being caught in the net, they immediately informed Prashant Kalas, a resident of Moodakatta and a HESCOM staff member who is also a snake rescuer. Prashant, along with the cooperation of local citizens, promptly arrived at the scene and conducted the rescue operation, safely securing the snake.

Subsequently, the snake was carefully handled and released back into a nearby forest, marking a significant step toward nature conservation. Prashant Kalas has previously rescued over 40 cobras and more than 25 king cobras without any expectation of reward. The public has widely praised his dedicated service toward animal conservation.
