Yellapur: Fatal Accident Claims Life of Bike Rider in Collision with Lorry

Yellapur:  A tragic accident occurred near Kiravatti in Yellapur taluk on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a bike rider after a collision with a lorry.

The deceased has been identified as Chayappa Somapurkar (45), a construction worker from Bailandoor, Yellapur. Another rider, Prabhakar Somapurkar, sustained severe injuries and was initially treated at Yellapur Taluk Government Hospital before being shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for advanced medical care.

According to reports, the two were riding a bike from Kiravatti towards Yellapur when the accident occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest that the bike was being driven at high speed, leading to a collision with the lorry. The impact caused the rider to fall onto the road, where the lorry’s wheel tragically ran over Chayappa’s head, resulting in his immediate death.

Yellapur police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
